A brief trip down the memory lane…Almost a year ago I posted on a design blog that I read every day. I surprised myself, actually. It was my first post on any blog ever. Deeply entrenched in a house-hunting process, waiting that night for the offer to be accepted, getting frustrated by the process, I turned to my comfort – the interiors blog – and responded to the competition to win a spot in the Design Master Class. The winner was to be announced the next morning. I had to write WHY I wanted to attend the Master Class. Without any hope, but writing very candidly, I wrote about inspirations, power of blogging, search for creativity, and courage to write. I opened the computer the next morning to find out that I was selected, along with two others, to attend a free Master Class in London! Beyond thrilled, I travelled to London in July for an unforgettable day of lectures and talks about interiors with Abigail Ahern.
And what happened to the house search? There is a happy ending to that too. Even though the sale of the house mentioned in my post fell through, we moved into a perfect (!) house last September and this is where totallybydesign starts…The adventures of urban house and garden renovations. With lots of Farrow & Ball “Down Pipe” in the picture, naturally
And all I need to do to calm down the occasional blogging sceptic part of me, is to bring up what I heard Dennis Lehane say recently at the author’s talk. When you start obsessing about what/how/goodenough? writing just think “who cares?”
